A placemark marks a position on the map. At its most basic, a placemark is indicated by a default icon and stores geographic location.
Adding a placemark
To add a placemark, pan to a position on the map centered by the crosshair and tap the Add Placemark icon. You will then be prompted to set your placemark details (name, symbol, etc.). Once satisfied, tap 'Submit' in the top right corner, and your placemark will be added to your map.
Placemark details
Tap the Information icon on a placemark label to see details about the placemark. On the placemark detail screen, you can change the placemark title, icon, enter a description, add photos, edit the location coordinate, and edit attribute schema. For more information about attribute schemas, please see this article located in the Advanced Data Collection section of the Help Centre.
Moving a placemark on a map
To move a placemark on the map, tap and hold a placemark, move it to another position and release it.
Sharing a placemark
There are two different ways to share a placemark. One way is to export the placemark and all accompanying information so that it can be imported either into the app elsewhere or for use in alternative GIS software. For more information on exporting placemarks from your map, please see this article.
The second is to share a GIF image of the placemark (and its location). This second method is ideal for sharing via social media/networking apps. To share a GIF of a placemark, tap on the information icon for the placemark you want to share, and then tap the export icon and choose how you want to share it (e.g. message, email, etc.). Please note: this does not export any actual data that can be re-imported into the app.
Deleting a placemark
Tap the Information icon on a placemark label to see details about the placemark. Tap the Delete icon. Alternatively, you can delete multiple placemarks through the Managing Map Features list.

I would like to know the status of previous user requests regarding the changing the default naming convention for Placemarks: "Placemark #". Is there a plan to allow users to customize the default text? For example, I would like to remove spaces from the default name, and shorten it to Wpt_<#>.
Additionally, I would like to control the number or characters used for the numbering of waypoints. As you probably know, sorting placemarks in ArcGIS tables can be problamatic if the numbering starts at 1, and not at 001 or 0001, etc. For example, sorting values 1-10 would result in the following order: 1, 10, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.
In summary, if we could select the default text *and* the default numbering convention (01, 001, 001 etc.), it would greatly simplify the digestion of placemarks in ArcGIS. Thank you!
Stephen
Hi Stephen,
We do have those requests filed with our development team and they are being reviewed. As of right now, they have not been scheduled for a release but they do remain on our radar to implement in the future. I have added your information to the open requests we have so that when we do implement the feature we can let you know!
How do you move an existing placemark to a new layer? I just lost a beloved placemark in trying to do so. *poof* it disappeared. :-(
Hello Paula,
If you are trying to move your placemarks or any other features I would recommend looking at these articles:
