Hello!

I started having interest in web map author tool.
If I want to test HTML5 map then I definitely need web server for this?
Opening index.html says:

"Could not download data required to display map.It appears that this web page is being loaded with a file url. Some web browsers do not allow background loading of data from the file system. Try loading this page through a web server instead."

Is there easy workaround for testing it locally?

  Hi Mait,

  Thank you for contacting Avenza Support.  
  
  Unfortunately, this is a problem with the specific web browsers and not something that we can adjust on our end.  As web browsers such as Chrome and Firefox change their security protocols they restrict the use of opening html files locally (meaning they need to be hosted on a server to open).  
  
  There are two workarounds for this:
  
  1. So far Microsoft Explorer Edge is the only browser that we know of to still open file htmls locally
  2. Host the files on a server and access them that way through a valid URL
  
  I apologize for any inconvenience this brings, but unfortunately, this is something that is out of our control.
