    Hi Roy,

Thank you for contacting Avenza Support.

In terms of suggesting an open-source or free GIS software to use for georeferencing maps and creating maps, I recommend using QGIS - https://qgis.org/en/site/. Thank you for the question!

    Regards

    Thanks Edgar,

While waiting for this reply, I discovered QGIS, downloaded it, and produced a custom geo-referenced map. It took watching a Youtube vid, or two, but was pretty manageable.

It would be nice if there was some way-less-full-featured option. But, for me anyway, QGIS is workable.

I second the QGIS suggestion.  It is a great GIS software and free.

Hi. Is it possible to upload in the map store a free Pdf georeferenced Qgis map without having a Vendor account? Just for the sake of sharing with the community maps from an unmapped region..

    Hi Julian,

Thank you for the question! To ensure the maps uploaded to the Map Store follow our submission guidelines, a vendor account is needed in order to submit a map. Please reach out to us if you have more questions and to connect you to our Map Store Team to help you out, via support.avenzamaps.com/hc we'd be happy to help! Thank you.

The geotiffs I create in qGIS open in my other GIS software in the correct goeographical location but will not display as a referenced map in Avenza- what am I doing wrong? I have followed all the steps correctly and end up with a .tif file and a .tfw file.
