On the Avenza Maps app we have three different subscription tiers, Free, Plus, and Pro. The Free subscription is by default when you install the app. Over time, you may want to change your subscription. This article will assist you on how subscriptions work and how you can change the tier of your subscription.
iOS Subscriptions
Upgrade. A user purchases a subscription that offers a higher level of service than their current subscription. They are immediately upgraded and receive a refund of the prorated amount of their original subscription.
If you want to upgrade, you can upgrade in app, by following these steps:
Avenza Maps > Settings > Upgrade Account
or
Device Settings > Apple ID [your name] > Subscriptions > Avenza Maps Pro
Downgrade. A user selects a subscription that offers a lower level of service than their current subscription. The subscription continues until the next renewal date, then is renewed at the lower level and price.
If you want to downgrade your subscription, you can follow these steps:
Device Settings > Apple ID [your name] > Subscriptions > Avenza Maps Plus
Trial. A trial for the Pro subscription will last 30 days and be automatically renewed and charged unless the subscription is canceled or altered. If you decide to upgrade partly through the Trial period, it will start at the end of the trial period for Plus or Pro. If you wish to cancel the subscription after the trial period, please ensure you have canceled the subscription through Apple at least 24 hours prior to the auto-renewal.
To upgrade, you can upgrade in app or through your Apple ID account:
Avenza Maps > Settings > Upgrade Account
or
Device Settings > Apple ID [your name] > Subscriptions > Avenza Maps Plus/Pro
If you wish to cancel the subscription prior to the renewal date, please follow these steps (deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription):
Device Settings > Apple ID [your name] > Subscriptions > Avenza Maps > Cancel subscription
Android Subscriptions
Upgrade. If you are upgrading to a Plus or Pro subscription when you only have the Free subscription, the subscription will take effect immediately and you will be able to access the subscription features. However, if a user purchases a Plus subscription first and then decides to upgrade to a Pro subscription, the cost of the Plus subscription is then prorated and added to the duration of the Pro subscription. For example, a user purchases a Plus subscription first and then upgrades to Pro, this would result in 14 months and 14 days of a Pro subscription instead of the normal 12 month period.
If you want to upgrade, you can upgrade in app, by following these steps:
Avenza Maps > Settings > Upgrade Account
or
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Store .
- Check if you’re signed in to the correct Google Account.
- Tap Menu Subscriptions.
Downgrade. When downgrading on Android, from a Pro subscription to a Plus subscription, the Pro subscription is not prorated and does not carry over to your Plus subscription time. You will essentially have two subscriptions at the same time. For example, if you have a Pro subscription and decide you want to downgrade to Plus, you must cancel your Pro subscription, log out of it, and then purchase a Plus subscription. You will be issued a new code and the duration of the subscription will start on the date of purchase and last 12 months. The Pro subscription will still be active and end 12 months after the date of purchase.
Note: If you don’t cancel your subscription, you will continue to be charged for it automatically.
If you wish to downgrade your subscription to a lower tier, please follow these steps:
- Open Avenza Maps > Settings > Details > Logout
- Avenza Maps > Settings > Upgrade Account
- Select Plus subscription and proceed to purchase
Trial. A trial for the Plus or Pro subscription will last 30 days and be automatically renewed and charged at the end of the trial period unless the subscription is canceled or altered. If you decide to upgrade partly through the Trial period, it will start at the end of the trial period for Plus or Pro. If you wish to cancel the subscription before the trial period is over there will be no charge and you will continue to have the subscription for the remaining time.
To upgrade, you can upgrade in app:
Avenza Maps > Settings > Upgrade Account
If you wish to cancel the subscription prior to the renewal date, please follow these steps (deleting the app does not cancel the subscription):
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Store .
- Check if you’re signed in to the correct Google Account.
- Tap Menu Subscriptions.
- Select the subscription you want to cancel.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
- Follow the instructions.
