Regrettably, no. Maps purchased from the Avenza Map Store are locked to your device's internal storage in order to protect vendor content. This means that you can't store or move these maps to your SD card.
One thing to remember is that if you are logged in to your Avenza Map Store account (found via the head/bust icon on the My Maps page), any maps you purchase/download are associated with this account. This means that if you need to free up space on your device, you can delete any of your maps and re-download them free of charge at a later date. If you need to use your maps on other devices, you can link up to five devices to your account and download your maps on to any of them.
Additionally, if you are loading maps from another source such as Dropbox, an internet URL, or an email attachment you can set a storage location for these maps in the Avenza Maps settings. This will not apply to maps downloaded from the Avenza Map Store.

That is really pathetic ....
It makes the app unusable for people who use Avenza maps mostly offline..In the areas of Australia I mostly use the app there is NO MOBILE DATA available (Except via satellite if you are wealthy ) .
Hence any navigation software I use I need to be able to store all my maps on the device that I am using for navigation as I never know what maps I will need .. and sometimes what areas I will be travelling though.
Fortunately Oziexplorer allows me to store maps on memory cards ...
Hi Rob!
Thank you for your feedback it is appreciated. To clarify our map store maps are encrypted and copyright protected which is why they can't go on SD card.
The Avenza Maps Store is a collection of vendors that have signed up with us to sell their maps on our platform. We have all sorts of organizations, cartographers, and individuals, who sell their maps on our store. To protect vendor content, maps purchased from the Avenza Map Store are only stored to your device's internal storage.
That said, any custom import maps you have can absolutely be stored in the SD Card. We would like our customers to be aware that the casual removing and replacing the SD card will not work with Avenza Maps. When an SD card is inserted into an Android device, a custom path is created. When that card is removed and reinserted, the path changes. What this means for Avenza Maps is that the path or link to the map will become broken, which will ultimately require the map to be deleted and reimported into the app. This path can also change with OS updates. This risk of files being corrupted is due to Android.

All you have to do is encrypt the file using something like the device ID as part of the key so they can only be used on the one device..not a difficult design problem to solve..
And also you pointed out that even when you import maps you cannot use the SD card another devices so.
So maps from the store could be stored on a memory card and the IP (Intellectual property) of the map providers could be easily protected ..(I understand the importance of protecting map provider's IP as some of my friends are map providers ..)
Only allowing the maps to be stored on internal storage only makes your otherwise excellent software useless to many people who use mapping tools in remote and rural areas...
Of course if I really wanted to get around it all I need to do is use a custom port of Android on the device rather than in this case the broken Samsung Android port .. I often use custom roms on older devices that manufacturers stop releasing updates, especially security updates on.
