Administrators for Avenza Maps Pro Enterprise licenses can choose to limit who is able to access the subscription further, by allowing or denying specific email domains. The purpose of this function is to provide greater control over Enterprise subscriptions, ensuring only authorized users have access.
Please note that domain access rules are only available for Enterprise subscriptions with a seat limit of 100 or more. If you are interested in enabling this function, please contact your Avenza Sales representative.
How to Create a Domain Access Rule
- Ensure the correct subscription is highlighted in the Subscriptions table
- Click the edit button to the right of the Subscription
- The Edit Subscription dialog window will open. If your subscription has the right permissions, there will be an "Allowed domains" section with an + Add Domain button. Click the button to set up the rule.
4. When the domain is populated an Allow/Deny toggle will appear.
- Selecting 'Allow' will allow only users with an email address under that domain access to the subscription.
- Selecting 'Deny' will prevent users with an email address under that domain from successfully activating the subscription.
- Multiple email domains can be entered, one record for each.
5. Click Save to apply the domain rule. From now on, new devices will only activate the subscription if they match the domain you set. These changes will not be applied to existing active devices.
Domain validations:
- Valid: 'Avenza.com', 'avenza.com', records are not case sensitive.
- Invalid: '@avenza.com', domain has an email.
- Invalid: 'avenza', the top level domain (.com) is missing.
- Invalid: #avenza.com, the domain cannot have special characters.
How to Remove a Domain
- Click the edit button
to the right of the Subscription.
- Click the X beside each domain you would like to remove.
- Click 'Save' to apply the changes.
Applying Domain Access Rules to Temporary Subscriptions
Temporary subscriptions will automatically inherit any domain rules from the main subscription. Administrators can create new domain rules for temporary subscriptions, or override inherited domain rules. Temporary subscriptions can be edited the same way as main subscriptions.
- Ensure the correct subscription is highlighted in the Subscriptions table
- Click the edit button to the right of the Subscription
- There will be an 'Allowed domains' section as in the main subscription edit window. Click the '+Add domain' button to set up the rule. Or, click the X beside the domain to remove it.
- Click 'Save' to apply any changes that have been made.
Overriding Domain Rules for Temporary Subscriptions
If the 'Override' checkbox is selected, the Temporary Subscription will no longer inherit domain rules from the main subscription. If no domain rules were added to the Temporary Subscription, then all domains will be allowed/denied according to the toggle. If domain rules are added to the Temporary Subscription, then only those domains will be allowed/denied, according to the toggle.
Logging into an Enterprise Pro Subscription on a Device
Once the domain access rules are in place, individuals attempting to activate the subscription on their device will be allowed or denied based on the 'Work email' field of the login form. If the rules are not met, the individual will receive an error message.
