Professional-use maps are not permitted on the Avenza Map Store without permission. If you are interested in using the Avenza Maps App for professional purposes, please contact sales@avenza.com for more information.
The following file formats can be uploaded to the Map Store:
- GeoTIFF
- GeoPDF
- TIFF + TFW + WKT within a zipped folder
- JPG + JGW + WKT within a zipped folder
Uploading files in any other formats will result in processing server errors.
Maps also need to adhere to the following guidelines:
Maps should be in a projected coordinate system, not a geodetic coordinate system. We require this so that tools in Avenza Maps such as Measure Area or Measure Distance work accurately. Uploading a map in a geodetic coordinate system may also result in processing server errors.
Geospatial files are limited to only one georeferenced frame and one page. It is recommended that you crop and georeference inset maps and other pages separately. However, if an inset map is an important part of the overall document, we recommend a note be added to the description stating that the inset map does not contain referencing.
PDFs protected by a password cannot be uploaded. Remove the password from the PDF before uploading. If you are looking to upload a map for private use that cannot be accessible via the public in the Map Store, check the Hidden option in the Edit Product page.

Map files should be no larger than 10,000 pixels in width and height and less than 250 mb. Avenza Maps is designed to work best with larger paper map print sizes, however, anything over 10,000 pixels can cause processing issues and lead to issues on user devices.
Maps with included layers are not supported. Images should be flattened prior to exporting to GeoTIFF or GeoPDF. Non-flattened maps can lead to dropped layers when processing, leading to missing data in your maps.
Map file names should not contain special characters or multiple periods. Special characters or multiple periods within file names can cause processing issues or lead to download issues on user devices.
Do not post prices anywhere other than the Pricing field on the map details page. Prices may vary and change depending on the local currency and the platform of purchase, which means having a static price on the map file, title or description of the map information can cause confusion for users.
