All maps must be properly and accurately georeferenced and in one of the following formats:
- GeoTIFF
- Geospatial PDF
- TIFF + TFW + WKT (zipped)
- JPG + JGW + WKT (zipped)
Test your map in Avenza Maps. Doing so allows you to verify the map’s geospatial accuracy and appearance at all zoom levels prior to uploading. In addition, this allows you to see how the map resolution and quality looks on the device. Every product uploaded to your vendor site has a Temporary Download Link, designed for easy imports into Avenza Maps.
Geospatial PDF documents are limited to only one georeferenced frame. It is recommended that you omit inset maps (alternatively, submit them separately.) However, if an inset map is an important part of the overall document, we recommend a note be added stating that the inset map does not contain referencing.
PDFs protected by password cannot be uploaded. Remove the password from the PDF before uploading. If you are looking to upload a map for private use, check the Hide in Store option in the Edit Product page.
Map files should be no larger than 10,000 pixels in either width or height. Avenza Maps is designed to work best with larger paper map print sizes, however, anything over 10,000 pixels can cause processing issues, and lead to issues on user devices.
GeoTIFF images with included layers are not supported. Images should be flattened prior to exporting to GeoTIFF or geospatial PDF. Non-flattened maps can lead to dropped layers when processing, leading to missing data in your maps.
Do not post prices anywhere other than the Pricing field on the map details page. Prices may vary and change depending on the local currency and the platform of purchase, which means having a static price in on the map file can cause confusion for users.
Maps should be in a projected coordinate system, not a geodetic coordinate system. We require this so that tools in Avenza Maps such as Measure Area or Measure Distance work accurately.
